On the topic of empowering you, let’s talk about love.
During this month of celebrating love, we can’t forget about the most important type of love. Self love!

With all this love going around, we need to save some for ourselves! Loving other people only truly works if you love yourself first. You come first, baby! Don’t ever forget that.
According to our trusty friend Google, the definition of “self love” is:
“regard for one's own well-being and happiness (chiefly considered as a desirable rather than narcissistic characteristic).”
What does self love look like?
Well, everyone’s solution to this question may look a little different. For some, self love means spending quality time in nature, or staying cozy at home reading a good book. For others, it may look like going to the gym for a good sweat session, getting uninterrupted sleep or getting a facial. It may also look like splurging on your favorite foods or shopping at your favorite stores!
If you’re not sure what might work best for you and your happiness, consider the following:
Recall a day or a moment in a day that you truly felt love for yourself. What happened on that day? Can you implement more of that into your daily life now?
Just remember to TREAT YOURSELF! You deserve it, honey!

Loving yourself may also mean loving your body too. Of course, our mission is to make clothes to help you feel good in your appearance. Strut your stuff! But feeling positive and/or neutral about your body is the goal, no matter what you wear.
How do YOU feel about your body? In today’s society, it’s almost impossible to ignore the unrealistic standards that are put on body images. Fortunately, more and more people are speaking out about feeling positive and/or neutral in their bodies.
What is body positivity?
According to this article by Verywell Mind,
The definition of body positivity is that, “all people deserve to have a positive body image, regardless of how society and popular culture view ideal shape, size, and appearance.”
The article continues on stating, “Body positivity is not just about challenging how society views people based upon their physical size and shape, however. It also recognizes that judgments are often made based on race, gender, sexuality, and disability.”
What does it mean to express body positivity?
Well, different strokes for different folks. For some, it may look like writing “I love you” in your mirrors so you can remind yourself of that message. It may also look like giving yourself permission to be happy in your skin, unconditionally, even when you have doubts. It may look like buying that outfit that you want to rock, just because!
However, only thinking positive thoughts on our bodies can be, at times, difficult and dismissive. Here’s where body neutrality makes its entrance.
What is body neutrality?
Body Neutrality is this amazing idea where you actually don’t have to have ANY major thoughts on your body. Instead of thinking negatively or positively about your body, or certain parts, you don’t really spend too much time dwelling at all. This concept has made huge waves for the exact reason that we should give ourselves permission to JUST BE!
What does it mean to express body neutrality?
Again, it’s all up to you and your own individual preferences. A great example of body neutrality is just THANKING your body for doing things for you. This includes but is not limited to: thanking your body for digesting food properly, letting you brush your hair, being able to stand up straight, or for allowing you to get a good night of sleep. Forcing yourself to think positively about a part of you that you’ve never been able to before can be hard. Instead, simply let yourself just be. Don’t judge while you observe.
The whole point of this is to help you remember that you have immense value. You are worthy. You are infinitely more than your body shape.
Maybe our lives would all be a little easier if we remembered that we deserve to treat ourselves UNCONDITIONALLY! (No ifs ands or buts!)
Speaking of which, we do not need permission from anyone to adorn our bodies. PERIOD. Adorn away! Treat yourself. Love yourself. You are WORTH IT! Always.

Your self love journey is uniquely your own. Remember, it’s not linear either. This means, there is no linear timeline during your journey. Keep an open mind and be patient with yourself.
Final tips that may empower you:
- Have a mantra that you repeat throughout your day to keep you from getting too lost in the sauce!
- Create a daily gratitude list!
- Serve your local community! Oftentimes, helping others is a total win-win situation! We all need a helping hand.
- Don’t forget to get some sleep. Studies show that getting good sleep can help with your hormone levels and brain cognition! Those are both major factors when it comes to your overall mood!
- Read an empowering book! Not only can books take you away from your own typical thought patterns, but knowledge is so empowering! Learning new things can help build self confidence and give you new tools in your life toolbox.
- Make time for yourself! Whether you’re making time to online shop at BodyZone, catch up on your favorite shows or get a relaxing bath in. Schedule yourself FIRST! This can’t be said enough. Treat yourself!
We are sending you infinite love! Send yourself some too. ;)
